Seddon wins Redbank care home contract

Seddon Construction has been awarded a £4.5m contract for the development of a care home at Redbank on Lowe Street in Radcliffe, Bury.

Six Town Housing, a landlord of former council stock in Bury, and Runcorn-based social housing consultancy, Pennington Choices, announced last November five companies were shortlisted to submit a tender for the work.

Six Town Housing said the contract will comprise the construction of 38 two-bedroom and two one-bedroom extra care homes with associated communal facilities and all external works including the demolition of the existing building.

The new 51,666 sq ft care home is being built on the 1.18-acre site where the existing Redbank residential building is located.

Pennington Choices is working alongside architects Pozzoni in managing the procurement, project development, and design process of the scheme.

Construction is due to start on site in February.

The scheme has had support from Bury Council, Association of Greater Manchester Authorities and Homes & Communities Agency.
