Seddon to build 114 homes for Great Places

Great Places Housing Group has awarded contracts totalling £10.6m to Seddon Construction for 114 new affordable homes at two sites in Breightmet, Bolton.

Seddon will build a £6.6m development of 60 houses and 10 bungalows at Waggon Road, Winchester Way and Mobberley Road.

The development is set to be finished in autumn 2014.

In addition, Farnworth-based Seddon is building a second scheme for Great Places, a £4 million development of 44 new houses also for affordable rent, at Milnthorpe Road, Breightmet.

The Milnthorpe Road scheme is set to be completed in spring 2014.

Both schemes are designed by the Paddock Johnson Partnership architectural practice.

Seddon Construction managing director Jonathan Seddon said: "There is a pressing need for new affordable housing locally.

"Seddon has a strong record in delivering modern and energy-efficient new homes and our team is excited to be working with Great Places to build these high-quality properties for social rent."

In addition to the new housing, the schemes will also create apprenticeship training opportunities through Seddon's Build Learn Grow partnership with Great Places.
