Seddon set to complete 122-home Chorley scheme in 2024

Trafford Housing Trust has recruited the construction contractor to build its £19.1m Lancashire scheme, with work already having begun on site.

Set on 25-acres off Euxton Road, the project includes a series of homes with a range of bedrooms, from two to four. Of the 122 homes to be built, half will be set aside for affordable rent and shared ownership.

The development also includes play areas, pitches and public open space. It is being delivered under Trafford Housing Trust’s Laurus Homes brand.

Formerly known as Strawberry Fields, the scheme received planning permission in January 2020. Work had been set to begin in April that year, but was delayed due to Covid-19 lockdowns.

Contractor Seddon began work on the site earlier this autumn, with construction set to complete in March 2024.

“We’re glad to be back on track brining much-needed new homes to Chorley,” Seddon divisional director Duncan Williams said.

“By partnering with Trafford Housing Trust and Laurus Homes, we’re working to create a new community, providing high-quality, affordable properties for local people; with new public open space for residents to enjoy.”

Trafford Housing Trust executive director of development Graeme Scott praised the scheme, calling it a “fantastic development”.

“It’s a popular location, and new, affordable family homes that meet the needs of local people are much needed in the area,” Scott said.

“Tackling the housing crisis is a priority for Trafford Housing Trust, and this scheme will bring more quality and choice for people who need a place to call home, offering a range of property types and tenures to suit different requirements and budgets.”
