Seddon pushes ahead with Congleton homes

Seddon Homes is targeting an autumn start on site for a 111-unit residential development on Padgbury Lane, Congleton, which includes 33 affordable homes and six bungalows.

After securing outline permission in 2015 via appeal, planner Hourigan Connolly gained reserved matters consent from Cheshire East Council on behalf of Seddon last month.

Mike O’Brien, director of planning at Hourigan Connolly, said: “The original outline planning application was supported by an environmental statement due to the ecological constraints present on site. Working with Seddon Homes and FPCR we were able to devise a layout which respected the need to retain protected habitats as well as provide new areas with enhanced mitigation. This high-quality development will provide six bungalows, to meet a local need, as well as introduce a new footpath link along the Loach Brook Corridor for use by the local community.”

FPCR advised on the ecological matters.

Have you checked the drainage? The last couple of sorties into housebuilding in Congleton led to floods of water on surrounding ground. Also, I would like to put on record my objection to Seddon putting up temporary traffic lights(During the day) to run their sewer pipes to the main drainage. Do it at night when there is not so much traffic and disruption. Why should we be disrupted to increase your profit margins!

@Anthony heyes – is your issue with estates or new housing generally in Congleton? The country needs hundreds of thousands of new homes. Why shouldn’t some of them be in Congleton?
