Seddon confirmed for next phase of Wigan nursing home

Privately owned contractor G&J Seddon has been appointed for the £4.2m second phase of Belong Wigan, a specialist care home for older people with dementia.

Seddon won a Building Excellence Award in the Best Healthcare Building category from Wigan Council for the recently completed first phase. The new building, for client the CLS Group, contains 66 en-suite bedrooms within six self-contained open-plan houses with 24-hour nursing support on hand.

It demonstrates that we have achieved excellent construction standards during the course of the building project as well as a high level of customer satisfaction. Work on the second phase of the project is expected to complete in October 2010 and will provide a further 36 one-bedroom and 18 two-bedroom self-contained apartments on a site adjacent to the existing building.

The Seddon Group, based in Holmes Chapel, had turnover of £240m in the last financial year and employs 1,700 staff.
