Seaforth towers set for demolition
One Vision Housing in Merseyside has received planning permission to demolish two 14-storey vacant blocks of flats in Seaforth, with J Bryan appointed to carry out a controlled demolition on both buildings simultaneously.
There are currently no plans to build on the sites of Churchill House and Montgomery House at Kings Park, but the plot will be made safe, leveled and turfed.
Those living within close proximity to the tower blocks have now been informed about the demolition, and have been asked to leave their properties for a short period of time on demolition day.
Local residents have been invited to attend a consultation event on Thursday 10 March to raise any questions they may have with staff from One Vision Housing and the demolition company. The demolition is due to take place before summer 2016.
One Vision Housing is currently building 14 homes for affordable rent near to Kings Park in Seaforth; and is targeting 500 new homes on other sites this year.
Arturo Gulla, One Vision Housing’s operations director for asset management, said: “The decision to demolish the buildings has been welcomed by local residents and councillors. It will have positive implications for the regeneration of the area and surrounding neighbourhoods.”
The tower blocks are out of place in this area and are not close to the district centre let alone the railway station. They have always blighted Seaforth which otherwise could become a pleasant suburb. Litherland is improving with attractive new developments on Hawthorne Road, and the same could happen in Seaforth; Crosby is constrained for lack of space. A start seems to have been made around the district centre with some characterful new development. My Dad was brought up there and I have an auntie living there so would be nice to see it revived.

Lets hope OVH stick to their origional plans to replace the 2 parks they removed once the demolition has taken place, and im sure with the amount of open space left they could also replace the football enclosure that was removed for ovh to build 7 houses on.

Why not build the kids of the area and play area seeing as you had taken away the existing park that was adjacent to Montgomery house leaving nowhere for the younger generation to play.
