Scottish Power expands into Midpoint 18

SP Energy Networks, part of Scottish Power, has taken a 90,000 sq ft plot within Pochin’s Midpoint 18 business park for its second depot in Middlewich.

Pochin’s, the Cheshire-based construction and development company, will build out the site for SP Energy. The new development will include 17,500 sq ft of warehouses and offices, as well as yard facilities.

The depot will serve around 65 of SP Energy Network’s field engineers, technicians and office staff in addition to its existing Middlewich site on Dalton Way.

SP Energy will join a range of other major distributors on Midpoint 18, including Wincanton, Kuehne + Nagel and B&M Retail.

Pochin’s chief executive Jim Nicholson said: “Midpoint 18 has long been an attractive location for businesses with significant distribution operations in the North West. To date, it has delivered over 1.5m sq ft of mixed employment space and over 2,000 jobs, so it’s fantastic to see another business of SP Energy Network’s calibre taking up residence.

“While the construction element of Pochin’s is currently thriving with projects across the North West, we’re extremely pleased that our investment portfolio continues to grow and provide new opportunities for development in the region.”

Work on the project is set to begin this month.
