School shake-up in Barrow

Cumbria County Council is to spend £17m rebuilding four schools in Barrow-in-Furness.

Vickerstown Primary School will be rebuilt on a site on Mill Lane in a £6m project. A new building for St Georges CE Primary School will be built at a cost of £3.3m. St Bernards Catholic High School will be partially rebuilt, with the remaining site refurbished. Finally, Barrow Island Community Primary School close to the BAE shipyard, on the Barrow Island dock area, will be substantially rebuilt.

A 15-month contract is available with the council for the building work.
