Scandinavian brand set for Liverpool One
Fashion and homeware retailer Arket is to open its fifth UK store in Paradise Street in early autumn 2018, having signed to occupy 8,600 sq ft over two floors.
The brand was launched by owner H&M Group in August 2017 with two London locations, Regent Street and Covent Garden. These have been followed by a store at Westfield Stratford, with the fourth UK site due to open at Bluewater in Kent this month.
Arket is a lifestyle brand billed as a sister brand to COS – which is also set to open at Liverpool ONE, in Peter’s Lane – and & Other Stories by fashion giant H&M, which describes it as “a modern-day market offering essential products for men, women, children and the home” with stores including a vegetarian café.
Managing director Lars Axelsson said: “We entered the UK with two great central locations in London last autumn, followed by an opening in East London earlier this year.
“Liverpool ONE is an innovative and inspiring shopping destination and we feel very excited about the opportunity to meet new customers and to expand our presence in the UK.”
Other shops are operating in Copenhagen, Brussels, Munich, Berlin, Stockholm and Amsterdam. The online store ships to 18 European countries. Arket sells its own goods, complemented by items from around 50 other brands.
Alison Clegg, director of asset management at Grosvenor Europe, added: “The signing of Arket secures one of Europe’s most interesting new brands for Liverpool ONE. Their presence adds even more appeal to our offer.”
Cushman & Wakefield and Metis Real Estate Advisors acted for Liverpool ONE. Arket was unrepresented.
Wonder if they’ll be attracted to open in the dismal Arndale Centre in Manchester or the dismal streets leading off the said dismal mall.
