Savings available on System One travel cards

Discounts of up to 17% are being offered by System One on some travel cards in Greater Manchester for a promotional period.

System One is the brand name of Greater Manchester Travelcards, a partnership company owned jointly by the bus, rail and tram operators in Greater Manchester, and Transport for Greater Manchester.

The promotion will run until 25 January 2014.

Examples of the discounts being offered include a reduction of £65 on an annual adult bus card, which can now be bought for £680, and a £50 discount on a young person or student card, which can now be bought for £510.

All other System One travelcard prices, apart from those including rail, are being frozen.

Richard Soper, chairman of Greater Manchester Travelcards, said: "With System One travelcards accounting for over 14% of bus journeys within Greater Manchester we are constantly looking at how we can deliver better value for our customers."

Meanwhile, the fares that will be paid by users of Metrolink in Greater Manchester next year are due to be decided.
