Saunders named MD at Bernard Taylor Partnership

Vicky Saunders, who had been the first female director in the Heaton Mersey-based architect’s history, has become the first person to be named as its managing director in a newly created role.

Saunders has been at BTP since 1994. She recently joined the RIBA Conservation Register as a specialist conservation architect, having completed sensitive projects on churches, almshouses and other period buildings. The accreditation allows Saunders to lead on Historic England and Heritage Lottery Fund grant-aided projects on listed or historic buildings.

BTP was formed 70 years ago and has in recent years developed a specialism in social housing.

Saunders said: “I am incredibly proud to be managing director of BTP. there can be few practices that have so successfully moved with the times during the last 70 years and I intend to continue with that approach. My colleagues and I will continue to invest time and energy working closely with our clients, building users and local communities to create special places.”
