Sanguine’s Days Hotel extension approved

Planning permission has been granted for a £2.5m extension to the Days Hotel Chester North in Deeside.

The hotel in Garden City, formerly known as the Gateway to Wales, will include an extra 34 bedrooms bringing its total number of rooms up to 74 by the two-storey extension.

Liverpool-based Falconer Chester Hall is designing the new extension for Simon Matthews-Williams' Sanguine Hospitality, which are the operators of the hotel. In addition, the architect practice is also designing an adjacent three-storey complex of 33 residential apartments with private parking and contemporary open plan layouts.

Adam Hall, managing director of Falconer Chester Hall, said: "This scheme allows us to build on our excellent relationship with Sanguine Hospitality which has already seen us produce a recently approved hotel scheme in Liverpool city centre for them. We are excited about the prospect of working with them again on this project."

The Days Hotel brand is part of the Wyndham Hotel Group, which has nearly 7,000 hotels representing more than 588,000 rooms in 66 countries.

Last November, a 151-bed four-star luxury boutique hotel on Chapel Street in Liverpool city centre was approved by Liverpool City Council, which has been designed by Falconer Chester Hall. This £14m hotel will be developed by Sanguine Hospitality under the InterContinental Group's Hotel Indigo brand.
