Salford University tops property research league

The Government's Research Assessment Exercise has rated the University of Salford's research in the field of the built environment as the best in the country.

The major research assessment, which rates every university in the UK to decide funding for the next seven years, found that 90% of Salford's research in the area of the built environment was of international standard and that 25% was of world-leading standard.

The university also finished top in Research Fortnight's Research Power table for architecture and the built environment. With 75 full-time researchers nominated for assessment, Salford submitted more in this subject area than any other university, with the next best being University College London who submitted 49.

The university hosts the prolific Centre for Construction Innovation for the North West, funded by the North West Development Agency among others.
