Salford Quays set for 700 more homes

Fortis Developments’ plans for the “comprehensive redevelopment” of Furness Quay is due to get the go-ahead from Salford councillors next week, delivering 709 apartments.

The project will see the office-to-residential conversion of Furness House and Custom House, adding six storeys and four storeys respectively.

There will also be two new blocks built, totalling 13 storeys and 27 storeys. The architect is Bowman Riley.

There will be a new avenue created through the heart of the development and new gardens and parks.

The contractor is Beaumont Morgan, which was acquired in 2015 by Fortis. Fortis is already working on another apartment scheme in Salford Quays, at Adelphi Wharf.

Salford City Council’s planning committee is due to meet on Thursday 19 January, and has recommended the Furness Quay project for approval.
