Ryder made director of SportCity project

New East Manchester has hired Mark Ryder, former chief executive of Isis Waterside Regeneration, as a freelance director to oversee the development contest for the 35-acre site around the City of Manchester stadium at SportCity.

The site of the aborted super-casino is currently subject to a tender process to select a developer. A decision is due in July next year with a planning application expected by the end of 2009.

Ryder left Isis as it scaled down its development programme in the summer and laid off half its workforce.
