Russells Construction has gained a £2.2m contract for the refurbishment of a 35,000 sq ft office building at Atlantic Park in Sefton.
The Trafford-based contractor has started work on a six month remodelling project of a former Rolls-Royce plant, known as Caspian House, which is part of the 800,000 sq ft mixed use business park in north Liverpool.
Site owner Royal London Asset Management and development management partner Industrial Securities recently received a £4.7m grant from the European Regional Development Fund and the North West Development Agency for the latest phase of Atlantic Park.
Russells will be responsible for the internal fit out, mechanical and electrical engineering works, replacement roof, car park and external landscaping during a 26-week programme.
The existing small office layout will be removed and a Grade A, open-plan space will be created. The building will also be served by 136 dedicated on-site car parking spaces.
Caspian House is the second project Russells has carried out for Royal London at Atlantic Park, a development of 54 acres on Dunningsbridge Road in Sefton, after the contractor completed a refurbishment of the neighbouring warehouse in April 2009. Prior to this, Russells was also responsible for the construction of the Royal London Asset Management's Orion Business Park and Hercules Business Park in Cheadle.
