RPS makes senior hires across North

RPS Group’s building services consultancy in Manchester has hired John Carroll from Zerum as M&E director with a remit to further develop the firm’s activities in the private sector.

Carroll worked extensively on the Media City UK development in recent years, where RPS has also been actively involved.

Simon Bourke joined RPS after 20 years with Buro Happold as operational director responsible for RPS’ Leeds M&E office with a remit to expand the group’s Yorkshire and Humberside activity in addition to a wider national role to lead on RPS’ healthcare presence.

RPS’ vertical transportation team is bolstered by the arrival of John O’Keefe who was previously a director of OTIS. His appointment increases RPS’ specialist lift and escalator team to 14 staff and makes it one of the largest specialist teams of its kind in the country.

RPS is currently engaged as building services consulting engineer on several high-profile city centre developments in Manchester including Ask Developments’ Greengate Embankment, Select Property Group’s City Suites residential development on Chapel Street and Balfour Beatty Investments’ PRS scheme at New Cross, Ancoats.

Ian Thomason, managing director of RPS’ UK building services consultancy, said: “Our existing teams will be strengthened with the appointment of these three new strategic roles which are targeted at already strong sectors for the business, where we are experiencing increased demand for our services, not just in the North West but throughout the country.”

RPS advises clients on planning inception, design, implementation and final completion stages, employing 5,000 staff worldwide, of which 2,000 are in the UK. There are 26 staff in the Manchester office.
