Royal Mail takes shed for Census handling

Ventnor has let 102,855 sq ft at Stakehill Industrial Estate off junction 20 of the M62 in Middleton to Royal Mail on a short-term lease.

Royal Mail has taken the space ahead of next year's census to deal with the increased workload expected from the posting, tracking and delivery of household questionnaires.

Stakehill is home to Aldi, DHL, and SSL International. CB Richard Ellis and King Sturge acted on behalf of Ventnor and Capita Symonds acted for Royal Mail.

Paul Cook, associate director of industrial agency at CBRE North West, said: ""The deal serves to highlight once again the strong performance of the industrial market in north Manchester. Having seen a spate of lettings including JD Sports at Kingsway in Rochdale and Peel securing B8 planning consent for Hareshill Distribution Park in Heywood, we are confident that they will act as a catalyst for further activity in this area."

CBRE also let 180,000 sq ft to Royal Mail in Trafford Park earlier in the year.
