Royal London to spend £6.2m in next phase on retail park

Royal London Asset Management is to extend and divide a former 35,000 sq ft MFI store at Capitol Centre Retail Park in Walton-le-Dale near Preston into three shops for new tenants in a £6.2m development.

A 35,000 sq ft Tesco Home Plus, 14,000 sq ft TK Maxx and 9,000 sq ft Homesense, part of the TK Maxx brand, will occupy the new configuration.

Manchester-based architect, the Harris Partnership, has designed the project, with a mix of extensive modifications and new builds.

Further designs have been included for a new slip road off London Way into the park, providing easier access, along with 2,500 sq ft of retail premises for new tenants, Sub-Way and Starbucks Coffee. Work on this is intended to begin in February.

The park has been remodelled by Harris and Royal London over the last ten years, helping to attract tenants such as Next, Maplin and the Car Phone Warehouse.
