Roundhouse acquires Blackburn site for next business centre

Preston-based Roundhouse Properties has bought a 3.5-acre site on Shadsworth Business Park in Blackburn to build 46,100 sq ft of commercial space.

The site will be developed under Roundhouse’s Momentum Business Centre model and will deliver a total of 68 units. It will be Roundhouse’s fourth Momentum site, having already delivered similar projects at Buckshaw Village and Bamber Bridge.

It is also close to finishing the first phase of construction at its South Rings site. In total, 127 business units under the Momentum model have been brought to the market in the last four years.

The developer is aiming to secure planning approval in October with construction work starting on the Blackburn site in early 2019.

Jeremy Lefton, managing director of Roundhouse Momentum Development, said: “Our Momentum business centres have proved to be very popular and we are looking to repeat this success at key sites around the North West. We look for locations that offer easy access to key motorway networks and Shadsworth has long been identified as a place where our Momentum model will thrive.

“There is a strong demand from business owners for this type of property which they can either rent or purchase but ultimately offer flexible spaces for their businesses to grow.”
