Roger Hannah buys Grasscroft Development Solutions

The Manchester-based firm of chartered surveyors has expanded, acquiring the viability consultancy arm of Grasscroft Properties.

Grasscroft founder Mike Coulter will be working with Roger Hannah on a consultancy capacity for the foreseeable future. Coulter will also be overseeing the merger of the businesses. He will be working alongside Roger Hannah’s director and head of development consultancy, Laura Mackay.

Created in 2003, Grasscroft Development Solutions advised multiple well-established housebuilders including Bellway Homes, Redrow Homes, Countryside Properties, Barratt David Wilson and Persimmon Homes.

Acquiring Grasscroft will mark a significant increase in revenue for Roger Hannah, according to company officials. They declined to share the cost of the Grasscroft purchase or exact numbers for how much revenue would improve.

Simon Cook, managing director of Roger Hannah expressed his enthusiasm for the deal.

“Grasscroft Development Solutions is a well-known and respected viability business acting for a range of national house builders across the North West and beyond,” Cook said. “The acquisition of the business further galvanises our position as a key player in the development market. Together, Mike and Laura will ensure the Grasscroft viability business is fully integrated within the existing business structure, providing an established platform for future growth.”

Coulter was also optimistic about the merger and said: “The merging of the Grasscroft and Roger Hannah viability businesses is great news for clients, combining the skills and professionalism of both practices, whilst also allowing clients to benefit from the support that can only be provided by a larger forward-thinking firm such as Roger Hannah.”

Roger Hannah has focused on growing its development team over the last few years. Headed up by Tom Shepherd, the development team offers transactional services, strategy consultancy and compulsory purchase advice.
