Rochdale retirement homes approved

Brighter Horizons, the new subsidiary company of Rochdale Boroughwide Housing, has been given planning permission for its first new build development.

The £2.1m scheme on Croft Street will comprise 18 two bedroom bungalows and 4 three bedroom houses.

The development will provide bungalows for older people, which will be developed to Lifetime Homes standard and at least Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

In 2008, Rochdale Boroughwide Housing become one of only 22 such organisations to be able to bid for grant support from the National Affordable Homes Programme and will be bidding for grant from the Homes & Communities Agency.

Brighter Horizons will be the developer and owner of the new units and RBH will manage and maintain the new units on its behalf.
