Rochdale BSF decision due in August

Rochdale council said it would begin its evaluation process in the coming days to decide on a winner between Carillion and Galliford Try for the £200m Rochdale Building Schools for the Future contract.

The work will see the authority's secondary schools transformed over six years. The council said a decision on the contractor is due by the end of August.

Hollingworth Business and Enterprise College, Wardle High, Holy Family RC/CE, and Falinge Park will be substantially rebuilt along with the Pupil Referral Unit at Darnhill.

Balderstone will be amalgamated with Springhill with major rebuilding and remodelling on the Springhill site. Middleton Technology, Matthew Moss, Cardinal Langley, Siddal Moor and St Cuthbert's will undergo major refurbishment. Brownhill School is set to be remodelled and there will be minor refurbishment at the Saxon Hall Pupil Referral Unit. Heywood Community School will close on 31 August 2010 with pupils transferring to Siddal Moor.
