Robertson chosen for Maghull care home

Parkhaven Trust has selected contractor Robertson to deliver a 45-bed dementia care home in Maghull, designed by architect Pozzoni.

The care home is to be built on land owned by Parkhaven Trust off Sefton Lane and Liverpool Road South which is currently home to a former nursery and office. This will be demolished to make way for a single-storey building housing 45 beds, 15 of which are designated for people with high dependency needs.

Registered charity Parkhaven Trust operates three residential homes, all based in Maghull, which provide care for 89 people, and the trust also offers dementia services in two further centres in the region.

Outline plans for the site were first approved in 2017, but have undergone significant alterations since then, most prominently a reduction in height from two to one storey.

Pozzoni’s updated plans were approved in March this year, and Robertson is due to start on site in the coming weeks. Alongside the beds, the proposals also include two courtyards for residents, a lounge, dining room, and a nurses’ station.

Parkhaven Trust also has permission to build 57 homes on a neighbouring plot, proposals for which were approved in 2017. As part of the planning conditions, the trust was required to bring forward a nursing home with a minimum of 45 bedrooms, or a payment of £945,000, within three years of the housing scheme starting on site.

Dirk Pittaway, managing director of Robertson North West, said: “The new facility will offer much needed care and support to those suffering from dementia and their families in Maghull and the surrounding area. Parkhaven Trust also expect a number of jobs to be created.

“The project will commence in June and follows other significant commissions for our business in recent months. Our team are keen to get started on developing such a worthwhile facility.”

I believe you need to discuss and advise local residents on how they will be effected end how you will manage the risks to the public and pedestrians using the parkland trust site.
