Robert Davis, Aidan Manley to run new Cheshire quango

The chairman and managing director of the newly created Cheshire & Warrington Prosperity Commission have been appointed.

Robert Davis, group chief executive officer of nuclear specialist EA Technology in Capenhurst, will take on the role of non-executive chairman at the new body, which will replace the Cheshire & Warrington Economic Alliance, taking on 'additional responsibilities for a wider prosperity role'.

Davis is president of the Institute of Asset Management and chairs the North West Development Agency's enterprise forum. He will work two days a month at the new commission. Current alliance chairman Neville Chamberlain has resigned and will step down formally at a board meeting today.

Aidan Manley has been appointed as the first managing director of the commission. He will join from St Helens Council where he is currently head of regeneration. He is a former area manager for Merseyside for the North West Development Agency.

Manley will take up his post in April. The previous chief executive, Martin Lee, resigned in October to pursue other interests.

The alliance focused on enterprise and business growth whereas the remit of the commission includes housing, planning guidance and transport.
