Rische refits Fallowfield halls

Trafford-based contractor Rische Group has completed the refurbishment of student accommodation in Fallowfield for Accrue Manchester LP, the joint venture between Development Securities and private equity house Accrue Capital.

The £500,0000 contract involved remodelling bedrooms and kitchens at Ladybarn House on Moseley Road, which features a total of 117 rooms and formerly belonged to Manchester University before Accrue-DevSec bought it last year. It was DevSec's first move into student housing. There were also new mechanical and electrical services fitted, energy efficient lighting, new en-suite bathrooms, disabled rooms, and decoration.

Richard Nuttall, contracts manager at Rische, said: "It was a mammoth project, taking our designers and tradesmen nearly 15,000 man hours to complete.

"We were very satisfied to be able to complete the work on time and on budget, especially as it took some very creative use of materials and it was essential to be ready for the students' return."

In addition, the company extensively refurbished the common areas of the building including its staircase and student relaxation area. Riche's Facilities Maintenance division will continue to support Accrue Manchester LP by providing planned maintenance services to the entire building.
