Riding school starts on site

Construction firm Thomas Barnes has started work on a new equestrian centre in Standish designed by architects Cassidy + Ashton.

The centre will replace an existing riding school and provide facilities for people of all ages, experience and abilities.

Owner Chris Ainscough formed a partnership with charity Sports Driving Unlimited to offer pony carriage driving for disadvantaged and terminally-ill children and adults.

There will be 22 loose boxes and stables, a staff room, laundry room, and changing rooms with wash facilities, as well as a tea room, reception area for visitors and viewing area into the indoor arena.

Work is due to complete in December 2013.
