Ridge nominated for town planning award

Caroline Ridge, a senior consultant planner based in the Manchester office of Peter Brett Associates, has been shortlisted among 15 candidates for the Royal Town Planning Institute's young planner of the Year 2012-13 award.

Ridge joined PBA in October from Rossendale Borough Council, where she led the forward planning team through the successful production of the core strategy and the initial stages of the site allocations and development management documents.

With extensive experience of both planning policy and development management, Ridge currently works on a variety of residential and retail schemes being promoted by PBA's Manchester office, including the submission of the planning application for Next's purpose built Home & Garden store in Handforth, Cheshire.

Bernard Greep, associate partner and head of PBA's Manchester office, said: "Caroline's nomination is a credit to her work in both the public and private sectors, and her addition to our team further expands our capabilities in the North West."

Adrian Smith, Principal Planner at Rossendale Borough Council, said: "Caroline showed herself to be passionate, innovative, hard-working and capable, making a major contribution to the successful preparation of the Core Strategy".

Voting for the Young Planner of the Year opens on Thursday 2 May.
