Richard Austin Alloys eyes Irlam HQ move

The aluminium and steel stockholder has lodged plans for a 37,000 sq ft complex at Northbank Industrial Estate, having bought the 2.2-acre plot for £730,000 in 2018.

The development would see the creation of a 33,000 sq ft storage and distribution unit and a 4,000 sq ft office.

Subject to planning consent, Richard Austin Alloys would relocate to Northbank from its existing North West headquarters off Bessemer Road, also in Irlam, as part of an expansion strategy.

RAA bought the site, located between Cadishead Way and Brinall Road in Salford, from local developer North Cheshire Developments in 2018.

Agency Lambert Smith Hampton, which represented the company in the sale, is the planning consultant for the development.

RAA was founded in 1981 and has sites in Leeds, Bristol and Glasgow.

Other occupiers at Northbank include Omega Engineering, Perkins Engines and UPS. In 2018, Property Alliance Group signed up builders and plumbers’ merchant Markovitz Group to take a 17,000 sq ft unit on a five-year lease.
