RIBA’s city tours return for new season

The RIBA Liverpool City Tours will return in May with a new tour and an extended programme.

The tours tell the story of Liverpool past, present and future, with RIBA guides leading tours that put the spotlight on key buildings and spaces that form part of the contemporary city landscape, its characters, its commerce and its culture.

In addition to the existing 'Liverpool: Gateway to the World' tour, there will be a new tour around Hope Street called 'Liverpool: City of Culture, Learning and Faiths'. Focusing on and around Hope Street, the tour uses the buildings and public spaces that have influenced generations to tell the tale of an area that has inspired creativity and gives you a taste of the arts, education, music, politics, religion and even places to relax and unwind in.

Andrew Ruffler, director of RIBA North West, said: 'Following the success of the first season of the RIBA Liverpool City Tours we are delighted to introduce a new tour to the programme. Liverpool has a rich architectural heritage that we believe should be celebrated and the tours are an ideal way to do this. Thanks to our knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides, people on both tours will be able to discover more about the history of key buildings in the city centre and learn more about the role they have played in the story of Liverpool.'

The tours start on Saturday 5 May and will finish Sunday 31 October. 'Liverpool: City of Culture, Learning and Faiths' runs Saturdays at 10.30am, 'Liverpool: Gateway to the World' runs Sundays at 11.00am and Wednesdays at 2.00pm.
