RGF round three winners announced
Twenty one projects in the North West have received a total of £88m in the third round of the Government's Regional Growth Fund.
Nationally there were 130 successful bidders sharing £1bn. The Government said that for every £1 of taxpayer money spent, the fund would leverage £6 of private sector investment.
The Business Secretary, Vince Cable was in Liverpool yesterday to visit Redx Pharma, allocated £4.7m in round 3 for research into drugs against microbial infection, influenza, hepatitis C and HIV. The project is expected to create 119 jobs over five years. The company also secured £5.9m in round two of RGF.

The five local enterprise partnerships in the region, underwritten by local authorities, will share £65m to deliver business support programmes and prepare sites for development.
Liverpool City Region LEP was awarded cash to create a three-year grant programme.
Wirral Council will deliver a £5m programme aimed to gain a bigger market share in the engineering and offshore wind sector.
Greater Manchester LEP will use its money to support business with start-up costs, fit-out, training, research and development and working capital.
Lancashire Business View, Regenerate Pennine Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen Council were awarded £4m to provide grants to small firms trading less than three years.
Cumbria LEP will provide grants to enable growth of SMEs, specialist manufacturers and exporters.
Cash for Ellesmere Port Development Board will pay for infrastructure works to enable five speculative developments.
