RGF round six opens

North West businesses can bid for a share of £200m in the latest round of the Regional Growth Fund.

The Government has committed £460m in the North West to date from the first five rounds of the Regional Growth Fund, supporting 84 projects and programmes across the region.

RGF round six is open to private sector bidders seeking £1m or more, with bids expected to contain match funding and plans for job creation.

The deadline for entries is noon on 30 September 2014.

Tratos, a cable manufacturing business in Merseyside, received £2.96m from an earlier round of RGF, which was matched by the Chrysalis Fund, to expand its operation in Knowsley. The company is investing in a new manufacturing plant to produce medium voltage cables.

Glen Dimplex Home Appliances, based in Prescot, Merseyside, was awarded a £3m RGF grant in the last round of RGF funding. The company will use the grant to expand production.

Patterson & Rothwell in Oldham used £1.7m to invest in plastic injection press technology, which will help the company target overseas markets and expand their investment in R&D facilities. The company, which was founded in 1981 and has now been able to consolidate activities on a single site in Royton, aims to create or safeguard 88 jobs in manufacturing and engineering.

To help bidders on their applications, roadshows and expression-of-interest days will be held throughout the country to provide advice on how to make a successful bid. An event will be held on 23 July at Manchester Town Hall.
