Revealed: MCC’s new-look cabinet

A shake-up of Manchester City Council’s executive members was agreed at the local Labour Group’s annual general meeting earlier this week and ratified by full council today.

The new-look cabinet comes into force with immediate effect, and sees several departures including that of Cllr Angeliki Stogia, the local authority’s executive member for environment, planning and transport.

Veteran council leader Sir Richard Leese also fought off the first challenge to his leadership from his group in more than two decades.

Newly elected Hulme member Ekua Bayunu formally ran against Leese, but he won 75 votes to Bayunu’s 15.
