Restored Victorian terraces sell fast
A street party this weekend will celebrate the success of a residential development in Moss Side, Manchester by Miller Homes and GB Building Solutions.
The development, called Infusion, completed a year ago and involved renovation of 151 Victorian terraced houses across four streets. Of these, 64 council-owned homes have been converted to provide two-, three- and four-bedroom homes. In addition there are seven new-build four-bedroom detached homes. All the Infusion homes were offered for sale on the open market with prices from £99,950. A council equity loan scheme called Inspire was available for first-time buyers and people in need of financial assistance. There are now only five properties remaining on the market.
The event on Sunday 4 March will include a helter-skelter, ice skating rink and a local talent show, plus children's carousel ride, side stalls and an ice sculpture, as well as visits from VIPs.
The regeneration project was carried out for Manchester City Council by Miller Homes and GB Building Solutions, funded by the Homes & Communities Agency. It is part of the £17m Moss Side and Rusholme District Local Plan that aims to improve local housing to encourage people to stay in the area and attract new residents by offering attractive, affordable homes close to the city centre.
Carolyn Walsh, Miller Homes project sales and marketing manager, said: "Infusion is a phenomenal success. The Grand Finale Party could equally have been called the First Birth Day Party. It was only a year ago, on 26 February 2011, that we launched the development. Now one year on we have only five properties remaining, with 67 sales in progress or completed."
The Lord Mayor of Manchester, Cllr Harry Lyons, will open proceedings around 12 midday. Emmerdale soap star Chris Bisson – born in Moss Side – and broadcaster and filmmaker Karen Gabay will be among the special guests.
They look excellent! Why cant Liverpool City Council have done this with the Welsh Streets? And come to think of it in Kensington too? Come on Bellway Homes surely you could do something like this with the lovely terraces that are still standing of Wavertree road (but are currently tinned up ready for demolition) instead of the current offering!!!

They aren’t that brilliant – I looked when they were first built and the building standards left a lot to be desired!! Its still Mosside when all said and done. In reality who would want to live there!
