Restaurateur opens in Altrincham

Indian restaurant Double Tree has occupied the former Victoria Wine outlet at 42-44 Railway Street in the Cheshire town.

Owner Mohammed Mear has agreed a 15 year lease on a 1,330 sq ft ground floor unit with a private landlord for an undisclosed sum.

Mear said: "We are investing heavily in the extremely high quality fit out of these premises for a contemporary Indian restaurant and we are confident that our decision to open Double Tree in Altrincham will be the right one."

Charles Murray, of letting agents Regional Property Solutions, who acted for the landlord, said: "Despite the much publicised difficulties the town centre is facing, this letting proves that for the right property and where landlords are willing to be realistic with their aspirations; there are occupiers willing to take space. At present we are finding that the majority of enquiries do tend come from restaurant and leisure orientated operations than from conventional retail outlets."

Mear was unrepresented in the deal.
