Renaker Build is preparing a hybrid planning application covering further development at Salford’s Greengate, including the phased delivery of a park and three tall residential buildings.
The first phase of the scheme would be on the Total car park next to the Abito building, and would see the creation of the park and the first residential block.
The second and third phase, which would be part of an outline planning application, would be constructed on land around Collier Street and Greengate, fronting Trinity Way.
The land for the park was bought from Salford City Council earlier this year. As the site of a historic Christ Church graveyard, the land is earmarked as appropriate for public space only.
The three apartment blocks, designed by OMI Architects, will each have a podium topped by a tower. The podiums will be used for retail, leisure, and also residential.
A public consultation event is set to be held on Thursday 10 October from 3.30pm to 7pm at the former Aldridge Building on Salford’s Queen Street.
The scheme would be the latest of many projects Renaker is progressing as part of the large-scale Greengate masterplan. Completed projects include Anaconda Cut and No1 Greengate.
Renaker also owns the long leasehold for other plots at Greengate, including the consultation location, which is set to see a 183-unit residential scheme built within six years. The developer also owns the grade two-listed Collier Street Baths.
Nearby, proposals are coming forward from One Heritage, advised by OMI and Euan Kellie Property Solutions, for a tower on a car park at Greengate and New Bridge. Sitting at 55 storeys, the building would sit alongside but loom over Renaker’s 44-storey Anaconda Cut, and would be the tallest property in Salford.
