SLDC Logo CombinedJoin Place North West and South Lakeland District Council at a special conference to discover a range of development and investment opportunities now available to you and your business. The exhibition will present an interesting insight for businesses looking to expand, relocate or start-up, and also for any active companies in construction, housing, commercial development, occupier markets and land promotion.

There are major developments taking place across South Lakeland and the south west coast of Cumbria including GSK’s new state-of-the-art biopharmaceutical factory in Ulverston; Sellafield’s £10bn new Moorside nuclear power plant due to create 21,000 jobs; and National Grid’s North West coast £2bn connections project to add new sources of electricity into the country’s power network.

The event will provide you with the chance to find out about the South Lakes economy, buoyant property market, investment opportunities, development land, excellent education provision, internationally recognised events programme and the unrivalled lifestyle on offer.

Among the speakers and panellists confirmed to date are:

There will be a mixture of presentations, exhibition stands and panel debates.

There are 150 acres of development land allocated in South Lakeland’s newly adopted Local Plan, ready for a range of employment uses. Among the larger plots are:

  • Scroggs Wood, Kendal, 44 acres
  • Mainline Business Park, Milnthorpe, 20 acres
  • East of A65, Kendal, 16 acres
  • Canal Head, A590, Ulverston, 16 acres
  • Shap Road, A6, Kendal, 14 acres

Housing also features strongly in the Local Plan; 1,600 units allocated for Kendal, 1,100 in Ulverston, 500 in Grange-over-Sands and more than 1,000 more dwellings in villages around the district.

This free-to-attend event will take place on Friday 6 November at the Museum of Science & Industry, Manchester and will be hosted by Place North West and compered by Andy Bounds, enterprise editor of the Financial Times.

The event will begin at 8.30am and close around 2pm. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Senior representatives from the planning and economic development teams of the council will be in attendance to answer questions.
