Redsun starts Speke industrial project

Redsun Developments has appointed Construction Partnership UK for a £5m contract to deliver the 75,000 sq ft innovate:speke at Venture Point business park in south Liverpool.

The development is partly financed by the European Regional Development Fund. The land was acquired by Redsun from the Homes & Communities Agency. Work will start on site in December with the units scheduled for completion in July 2015.

There will be four separate units. Redsun said terms have been agreed with owner-occupiers for two of the units already.

Craig Booton, managing director of Redsun Developments, said: "2014 has been a strong year for us, so we are delighted to end the year by getting innovate:speke underway. There has been strong demand for our product from successful local companies and we look forward to working with CPUK to deliver these high quality new business premises. We are in talks with other occupiers and expect to announce further news on those shortly."

Steve Burke, managing director of CPUK, said: "The scheme is being built to a BREEAM 'excellent' rating and, when complete, will provide high quality commercial space bringing further employment opportunities and inward investment to the area. This development is one of a number of major contracts we have secured recently and provides further evidence of the increase in construction activity which is being led by developers such as Redsun."

Instructed agents at innovate:speke are Jon Thorne at B8 Real Estate and Roy Backhouse at Roy Backhouse & Co.
