The opening dates for the cinema and first restaurants within Stockport’s Redrock have been confirmed; Zizzi and Pizza Express are due to open on 17 November, The Light cinema on 24 November, with GBK and MangoBean Coffee to follow in the New Year.
Redrock will be The Light’s eighth cinema and is part of an expansion programme that is planning 20 more openings in the next three years.
The Stockport venue has a total of 914 seats with 10 screens with capacities from 42 to 177 people. All screens are licensed and have extra-wide reclining seats with side tables so guests can bring in food and drink.
Along with The Light, there will be 38,000 sq ft of leisure and retail space at the £45m scheme. Zizzi, Pizza Express, Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Mangobean Coffee have been confirmed as the tenants for four units, while two further units are under offer.
Light Cinema Stockport’s business manager Jamie Pitt, said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming the people of Stockport into the cinema and to Redrock. It will add another evening leisure destination to the area so guests can come and enjoy a film and eat a meal at the new restaurants before or afterwards. We aim for Light Stockport to be a hub for the local community.”
Light Cinema Stockport’s opening films will be Justice League, Battle of the Sexes and in December the latest Star Wars film. As well as playing blockbuster films, there will also be old and contemporary classics such as the seasonal It’s a Wonderful Life and Elf plus new releases Wonder, Suburbicon, and The Man Who Invented Christmas. There will also be live theatre events including the Nutcracker ballet from The Royal Opera House and the Oscar Wilde Season from the Vaudeville Theatre in London’s West End.
