Wellbark Property has let a 49,300 sq ft unit on Plas Coch Road, currently occupied by Homebase, to The Range.
Durham-based Wellbark is managed by Associated Property Investors and was represented by Savills, with Morgan Williams acting for the retailer.
The Range has agreed a 15-year lease for the store, which is set to be vacated by Homebase at the end of 2018, at a rent of £8.11 per sq ft. The unit is located adjacent to Argos, Sainsbury’s, Aldi and Plas Coch Retail Park, where occupiers include Boots, TK Maxx, Sports Direct and Currys PC World.
Charlie Greenhalgh, out-of-town retail director at Savills, said: “We are delighted to have secured a deal with The Range for this store, which benefits from being situated within Wrexham’s dominant out of town retail area.”
In August, Homebase announced plans to close 42 stores across the UK as part of a Company Voluntary Arrangement and although Wrexham and the store in neighbouring Mold were spared at that point, subsequent negotiations with landlords led to the announcement in early November of Wrexham’s closure. Homebase was acquired by turnaround specialist Hilco for £1 earlier this year.
