Range reveals opening date as Rhyl retail takes shape

Discount superstore The Range is to open on Good Friday at Scarborough International Properties’ Marina Quay in Rhyl, the news coming as plans were submitted for an 18,600 sq ft Aldi at the £25m seafront scheme.

Scarborough confirmed in November that the supermarket brand intended to open at Marina Quay, relocating from its current town centre store. A public consultation event was held in December to showcase the plans.

Pending planning consent from Denbighshire County Council, construction will commence later on this year.

Marina Quay comptises 132,000 sq ft of retail and leisure. Poundworld, Farmfoods and Greggs have all followed anchor tenant The Range in committing to the scheme, which has been designed by NW Architects. Scarborough said that further deals with a number of food and beverage operators are in the pipeline.

Jack Abou-Jaoude, development manager of Scarborough International Properties, said: “We are extremely excited about the prospect of opening a new Aldi store at Marina Quay. We have worked hard to deliver an accessible and larger store for local residents.

“The planning consent will enable us to create local employment opportunities in the local area and provide consumers with even more choice. We look forward to progressing the scheme.”

When is burger king and costa coffee coming to the shopping park?

By Sam

Such a shame that Rhyl is still getting the same old discount stores and cheap eating places in this lovely new shopping park. If an expensive venture like Marina Quay can’t make a difference in Rhyl then nothing is ever going to change here.
