Procure Plus unveils £136m new homes programme

Manchester-based social housing buying consortium, Procure Plus, will hold a meet-the-buyer event on 30 November to outline opportunities on its new-build framework.

The event will be co-hosted by procurement consultancy, Valueworks, and is due to take place at the Trafford Suite, Lancashire County Cricket Club, Old Trafford, from 10.30am to 1.30pm.

Speakers on the day will include:

  • Nigel Wilson, chief executive of Parkway Green Housing Trust
  • Sarah Parr, consultancy director of Valueworks
  • Kate Parker, community investment and training manager at Procure Plus
  • and Allan Foster, design and standards manager at the Homes & Communities Agency,

Visitors will have the chance to find out more about the framework entitled the 'New Build Brokerage Model', which is aimed at achieving cost savings on new build social housing projects for registered providers. Contractors will be informed about the model's procurement process.

Steve Brindle, operations executive at Procure Plus, will be also speaking at the event. He said: "This will be an excellent event for construction companies of all shapes and sizes to find out more about the long-term business opportunities the framework has to offer. Consistency of work is something that every contractor desires, and through the model and our approach to the procurement and delivery of work, contractors can be more assured of continuity and stability in demand, as the consortium works with a wide range of housing providers in the region.

The pre-qualification stage of the procurement process is now open and selected candidates will receive an invitation to tender in January. It is envisaged that work will commence on the framework in mid-2012.
