Procure Plus to appoint £300m materials supplier

Trafford-based social housing consortium, Procure Plus, has published a contract notice inviting tenders for a merchant to supply goods and materials for repairs and maintenance for the next four years.

The framework agreement has a budget range of up to £300m over the life of the contract. The aim is to allow registered housing providers and a selection of nominated contractors to "agree a bespoke supply solution that is entirely suited to their individual requirements."

Clare Tetlow, senior procurement manager at Procure Plus, said: "Not only will users be able to buy a diverse range of branded goods and materials from one merchant, they will be able take advantage of the supplier's buying power by purchasing products at a highly competitive price. This ensures users will receive true value for money.

"As well as supplying the goods at the true cost price, the supplier appointed to the framework will integrate with the Procure Plus systems and be obliged to participate in open book accounting, involving the structured management and sharing of costing information between Procure Plus, the supplier and the customers.

"At a time when budgets in the social housing sector are being tightened, it's important that the industry works collaboratively together and considers how it can make the purchasing of materials more efficient, cost effective and deliver added value.

"We've created this new framework to increase the supply scope, cater for the diverse range of provider needs, and importantly, keep costs down. The framework will be accessed under licence by agreement with Procure Plus and suppliers will be able to bid from Tuesday 5 February 2013.

The Contract Notice follows the Meet the Buyer event that was held at Lancashire County Cricket Club in October where suppliers were informed about the proposed framework agreement and how they could apply to participate in the procurement.
