Prezzo signs to Media City

Contemporary food chain Prezzo has signed a deal with Peel Group to open a new restaurant at Media City in Salford Quays; their first restaurant in Greater Manchester.

Prezzo has a total of 165 restaurants across the UK and will be located on the ground floor of Orange Tower, overlooking the landscaped gardens and piazza.

Martin Bloom, from Insight Retail, who advised Prezzo, said: "This acquisition for Prezzo clearly demonstrates that restaurants are still the main drivers of growth within the hospitality sector. Opening an outlet at Media City UK and in the Greater Manchester area is particularly significant as it provides Prezzo with a highly competitive pitch and a strong footing in such a key city. IRC is currently working with Prezzo to secure further catering opportunities in the North West region."

The Orange Tower will also house a new campus for Salford University and office accommodation for ITV.

The first phase of Media City includes approximately 80,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space. Other retailers confirmed to take space at the £650m development include Costa Coffee, WHSmith and Booths.

The unit for Prezzo at Media City measures 3,000 sq ft and will open in early 2012.

Details of the rental agreement was not disclosed.
