Hollins Strategic Land had its outline planning application rejected for 51 homes off Garstang Road, while Fellows Homes and Cleator Manor found success in their 50-home reserved matters app for the former Ingol Golf Club site.
The decisions were made at a 7 January Preston Council planning committee meeting, which also saw the approval of Taylor Wimpey and Bloor Homes’s 320-home scheme on land off Tabley Lane.
The Fellows Homes and Cleator Manor scheme sits on five acres that were formerly used as a golf and squash club. The scheme, which is designed by LMP Architectural Consultants, includes 14 affordable homes and 36 market ones.
The affordable homes would include eight two-bedroom houses and six three-bedroom ones. The market homes break down into 31 four-bedroom houses and five six-bedroom ones.
All councillors in the meeting room voted in favour of the approval, with Cllr Neil Darby having excused himself from the discussion.

Planning officers had recommended the council refuse the Hollins Strategic Land application, saying its location fell in open countryside and was not deemed permissible for the area. The site in question is more than six acres and borders Bank Hall Barn, which has planning permission for 97 homes. Sedgwick Associates is the planning consultant for the project.
In the end, most of the council agreed with the planning officer’s opinion, with eight voting in favour of rejecting the application and one councillor (Cllr James Hull) voting against. Cllr Peter Moss had excused himself from the discussion.
