Preston hotel build goes out to tender

On behalf of Lancashire County Council, project manager Frank Whittle Partnership has issued a contract notice through OJEU to appoint a contractor on a £7.75m project on East Cliff in the city.

The project forms part of the plan to redevelop the Park Hotel, which sits on the immediately adjacent plot. The existing Joint Divisional Offices block will be demolished and replaced with a new building that will include headquarters office accommodation and bedrooms for the hotel.

The scheme is being funded by the Local Pensions Partnership, a collaboration between the Lancashire County Pension Fund and the London Pensions Fund Authority, for which Lancashire County Council is the administering authority.

The wider 3.3-acre development involves 71 bedrooms being created in the original Grade II-listed building, while the new building will include 83 bedrooms. Other facilities include offices, a spa, conference facilities, a lounge bar and gym. A 500-capacity banqueting pavilion completes the project. Cassidy + Ashton is the scheme architect.

The deadline for tenders is 17 February.
