Preston firm appoints Ask Life director Bowman

Preston-based development and construction firm The Marcus Worthington Group has appointed former Ask Life director Duncan Bowman to head up its residential property arm, Hollinwood Homes.

Bowman will be working closely with public sector bodies to build on the company's existing commitment to affordable housing as part of its wider portfolio.

Bowman's responsibilities also include developing the Hollinwood Homes brand and increasing its profile across the North West, stressing the company's design and environmental credentials.

The company's current land holdings include the capacity to introduce over 450 new family homes, the majority of which have full planning consent already.

The first development is set to commence in 2010 in the Ashton-on-Ribble area of Preston. The development will consist of 150 homes providing a mix of apartments and two, three and four bedroom starter homes. Working in conjunction with Preston City Council, 20% of the scheme has been earmarked for affordable housing.

The group has recently been involved in the delivery of 3,500 student units, 650 key worker homes and over 75,000 sq ft of out of town and town centre retail space across the UK.

Speaking about the company, Bowman said: "Through investment it retains a strong asset base with a low gearing giving it an extremely strong financial footing for forward development opportunities. Therefore we are building our presence in the residential market from a position of strength."

He has worked in the residential property sector for over 15 years. Prior to his position as director of Ask Life, the residential arm of Ask Developments, he was a regional director at housebuilder Countryside Properties North West.

Bowman will deliver three schemes already planned in the Preston area from 2010 as well as identify new development opportunities for Hollinwood Homes.
