Preston approves construction of 400 homes
Schemes by housebuilders Prospect GB and Story Homes were approved by Preston City Council yesterday, totalling 413 houses across Longridge and Fulwood.
HOW Planning, on behalf of Prospect GB, gained planning permission for a 113-home scheme at the former Ridings depot and land north and south of Whittingham Road. The 11-acre site is part of a wider area of residential development west of Longridge.
At the same meeting, Story Homes’ proposal to build up to 300 houses with supporting retail and community facilities on a 64-acre site north of Eastway was granted detailed permission. The site already has outline consent and sits within an area classed as a strategic location for housing in the Preston Local Plan.
Meanwhile, although recommended for approval, the committee deferred a decision on a student accommodation project by developer Ladson Preston at Innovation House, pending a site visit. The scheme would deliver a total of 218 self-contained studio apartments.
A 58-apartment project at Bridge House in Tabley Lane was rejected, due to concerns over the impact of traffic and the lack of the project’s integration with the area’s masterplan.
