Praxis details 90-acre Hyndburn scheme

The commercial property developer and investor has released plans for more than 1m sq ft of mixed employment development in Whitebirk.

Proposals for the 90-acre site in Blackburn Road are dominated by 990,000 sq ft of warehouses for advanced manufacturing and industrial uses across four plots, alongside 50,000 sq ft of offices, a hotel, and food and leisure facilities.

Whitebirk was designated a strategic regional employment site in Hyndburn Council's 2012 development plan core strategy due to its location close to junction 6 of the M65 motorway.

Praxis' proposals will be presented at a drop-in public exhibition on Tuesday 24 February 2015 between 12pm and 8pm at the Red Lion Public House, Whitebirk Road, Blackburn.

The public exhibition will provide local people with the opportunity to have their say on the proposals, learn more about the site, view the scheme drawings and put forward any questions they may have to the project team. Praxis will analyse all the feedback received at this event and make any appropriate changes and refinements ahead of its planning application.

Commenting on public exhibition and proposal for the site, Gabriel McLaughlin, director and head of asset management at Praxis, said: "Against the backdrop of a tough economic environment, we are developing plans for a mixed employment development site that will act as a major boost to the local economy with the creation of up to 2,000 jobs of significant benefit to the local community. We are keen to ensure that the local community has the opportunity to comment on the scheme to help develop something we're all proud of and that fulfil our objectives of attracting inward investment and creating a range of jobs for the area."
