Pozzoni completes latest care scheme

Pozzoni Architects has handed over an £18m extra care housing project to Arena Housing Association in Ormskirk, west Lancashire.

Brookside contains 111 one- and two-bed apartments with communal and support facilities in Ormskirk. The development will cater for people with all levels of physical ability from the fully able to the very frail and provides specialist health, care and support services for older people with dementia.

Pozzoni specialises in designing for older people and Brookside was designed along dementia principles set out by the Department for Health.

Brookside includes a fitness suite, beauty salon, day care centre, library/IT room, multi-purpose/cinema room, treatment rooms, music room and offices for NHS Central Lancashire.

The landscaping and gardens are also designed along dementia principles and reinforce the essential link between building and landscape and the therapeutic effects of well-considered dementia design.
